I feel like I have been the anti-bride of this blog, the girl that never sees herself getting married. I have to admit, not sure if it’s because I’m getting older or what, but I am starting to think about marriage pretty seriously these days and the one thing that keeps popping into my mind is where to have my wedding. I’m from Virginia, I love Virginia and the East Coast. I have so many great memories back there, it’s where I have always called home, plus tons of friends and family that I still keep in touch with on an almost daily basis. On the other hand, I’ve been in Colorado for awhile now, it is where I met my love and have made it my home. I would love to share my new home with all of my friends from the East Coast, but know that inevitably, not everyone from home would be able to attend if I hosted it in the mountains, and not everyone from the mountains would be able to attend if I had my wedding in Virginia. So what’s the answer?
I have often thrown around the idea of having two receptions, but my problem with that is that I want all the people that I love to be together, not together in two separate places. I came across this article in the Offbeat Bride http://offbeatbride.com/2010/02/oslo-new-york-wedding#more-4227, which is what got me thinking about the dual receptions. I thought that some of our brides may come across this same problem when they decide to go with the mountain destination wedding.
Let me know your thoughts. And don’t worry, I’m not even engaged yet, so I have plenty of time to think about it!
