When it comes to songs for your wedding, the list of fodder is practically endless. From the sappy to the adorable to those that make us cringe and ask “WHY????” you can find a pretty comprehensive list on WeddingWire.com. A few of my personal favorites – not surprisingly – come from the 80s and the era’s rockers…though as much as I love the song, I do believe Bon Jovi’s “Make a Memory” pertains more to people, um, not exactly abiding by their vows than to those newly minting ones. (Jon, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.)
Anyhoo – in perusing the lists, I came across an oldie-but-goodie from The Crystals: “(Today I met) The Boy I’m Gonna Marry.”
Music from our grandparents’ generation? Yes.
Goes fabulously with tea-length dresses and feather veils? Double yes.
Certain to make your grandmother reminisce and enjoy your day that much more? Absolutely.
Can you ask for anything more from a song? I guess my point, dear brides, is don’t be afraid to look back in time for wedding songs…there’s a reason they added “goodies” to the end of the phrase.
